Geode with quartz, green celadonite and geothite
This remarkable 11-cm-wide geode with quartz comes from the Dialer Bohlen area between the Sasso Piatto and Denti di Terra Rossa mountains. This area is famous for its geodes with varieties of quartz often featuring intensive colours. Geodes are formed when hot solutions and gases in hollows contained in pillow lavas crystalize to produce a variety of different minerals.
